Societe Generale’s fit-out of its premises at One Bank Street achieved BREEAM Refurbishment and Fit-Out ‘Outstanding’ with a score of 86.12% - the first to be achieved by a bank.

The fit-out is the first at the 700,000 sq ft new build office building in London’s Canary Wharf. Only 15 projects in the UK have achieved BREEAM Refurbishment and Fit-Out ‘Outstanding’.

gross floor area 280,000 sq ft
working space 1,200 Spaces For Traders

The 280,000 sq ft fit-out was undertaken while the base build works were carried out and the innovative new banking environment delivers cutting edge office space as well as a number of different offerings for employee and client fine dining.

The office floors provide a mix of working environments to support and encourage agile working and collaboration. The new state-of-the-art trading floors will support 1,200 traders with a ‘market place’ restaurant and a winter garden with a creative interconnecting staircase linking the four trading floors.

G&T supported Societe Generale’s Commercial Agency transaction team in its search and selection of a new headquarters building and, following an extensive site selection process, a turnkey transaction with Canary Wharf was recommended. G&T subsequently led the project delivery through all stages of lease negotiations, brief, design, procurement and construction through to complex multi-stage and phased handovers, completion and finally occupation in 2019.

The initial BREEAM brief has been greatly exceeded and provides the bank with office space that will serve its staff for many years
