Maggie's is a network of centres designed by leading architects and built beside NHS hospitals across the UK, offering emotional and practical support to anyone affected by cancer.
Designed by Stirling Prize-winning architect Amanda Levete and located next to Southampton General Hospital's oncology unit, the new Maggie's centre and gardens have transformed the previously uninspiring view from the hospital buildings.
The single storey centre incorporates bespoke ceramic block walls and mirror façades with sliding glazed screen panels and a sedum green roof. The interior movable walls provide public and private flexible spaces to cater for a wide range of activities. The landscaping by RHS Chelsea and Hampton Court Flower Shows' gold medal-winning landscape designer Sarah Price, takes inspiration from the nearby New Forest.
In addition to the new centre at Southampton General Hospital, G&T has worked with Maggie's on delivering centres at The Christie Hospital in Manchester, St Bartholemew's Hospital in London and The Royal Marsden Hospital in Sutton amongst others. We are currently working on exciting new schemes with Maggie's at Northampton General and The Royal Free, London.
