This year saw Google celebrate the topping out milestone of its new King’s Cross building with the final steel beam put into place. Showcasing the best of workplace design, this extraordinary space has been designed to connect Google with the surrounding community and create a platform for great ideas to grow.
Sustainability is at the heart of the building’s design with low carbon, local materials – both in the construction and interiors - being prioritised to reduce the building's carbon impact by 20%.
A system of 13,500 interconnected devices will improve energy efficiency in real time while solar shading will help regulate the building’s temperature. Onsite equipment will be fully electric allowing Google to track hourly energy usage and match it with local renewable energy.
