Providing enough electricity to power 2 million UK homes
A crucial part of Government plans to deliver on 2050 net zero targets
Eastern Green Link 2 (EGL2) is a 525kV, 2GW HVDC subsea transmission cable connecting Peterhead in Scotland to Drax in England, developed as a joint venture between National Grid Electricity Transmission and SSEN Transmission.
When commissioned in 2029, EGL2 will be the longest HVDC cable in the UK and its largest electricity transmission project. It will enhance the connection between Scotland and England’s transmission networks, facilitating more efficient distribution of renewable energy.
G&T is supporting EGL2 by establishing key PMO functions, including change management, cost controls and integrated digital reporting. This integrated system will unify all PMO data - costs, schedules, risks, resources and changes - into a single platform, ensuring accurate and transparent reporting for the JV, parent companies, regulators and external stakeholders.
