Supporting the university's net zero ambitions
Committing to achieve Net Zero Carbon by 2030
Avery Hill campus is undergoing a major upgrade to its heating system, replacing its outdated gas network with a modern air source heat pump system. This change is expected to further reduce the campus’s carbon emissions by 60%.
The project includes the construction of a new energy centre and three associated small plant rooms, which will provide sustainable energy to five teaching buildings.
The energy centre will be situated within the existing campus, utilising previously developed land to minimise any impact on the openness of the Metropolitan Open Land.
